Mass protest in Owerri, Imo state, against Nigeria’s judiciary
Watch:
The mass protest in Owerri, IMO state, Nigeria, is against the recent decision of Nigeria’s Supreme Court led by Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, which removed the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Emeka Ihedioha as governor of Imo state, replacing him with Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress party (APC).
On January 14th 2020, the Supreme Court in Nigeria declared Hope Uzodinma as the governor of Imo State on grounds that the gubernatorial elections which was held in Imo State was marred by illegalities.
A Twitter user, Somto Onuchukwu @chosensomto who posted the video, said:
“This is what happens when the last hope of the common man is compromised; civil disobedience is the only option. This is what happens when the Supreme Court rigs an election. Nigerians will not fold their hands and watch Tanko destroy our democracy. #SaveOurJudiciary”
