The Kaduna state governor has been reportedly quoted as saying that there is now a law in Kaduna state based on which people can be arrested based on what they say. This is clearly a sign of lack of leadership by Nasir El-Rufai in Kaduna state. The governor’s alleged statement is totally undemocratic in essence, and is both unbefitting and unexpected from a democratically elected governor. It also constitutes an attack on freedom of speech and the fundamental rights of Nigerians. The Kaduna state governor has been advised to grow into the shoes of leadership, by focusing on providing security for his people and protect the lives and properties of the people of Kaduna state, instead of focusing on what people say.

“Governor Nasir El Rufai @elrufai people are being kidnapped in their houses in your State! The road from your State to the Nation's capital has been overtaken by kidnappers and all you care about is what people are saying? What a pathetic brand of leadership! #WhereIsDadiyata?” pic.twitter.com/sHbAbT732B
